About the performance
NARRATOR: Many animals live in the little forest, and this is the story of a family of little hedgehogs: Grandma Ježurka, Grandpa Ježurko, Mama Hedgehog, Papa Hedgehog, and the children Bockica and Bocko. Every day Mama and Papa Hedgehog went to gather food for the family while Grandma Ježurka and Grandpa Ježurko looked after the little hedgehogs. One day, while Mama and Papa were away, the little hedgehogs stayed with their grandparents. Sometimes they were mischievous. Bocko was the first to go outside to play, happily kicking walnuts he found in the grass while singing. Suddenly he noticed a hat that hunter Luka had forgotten. He stared at it in surprise, wondering what he could do with it. At that moment he heard Bockica approaching while singing, so he quickly hid under the hat so she would not see him. Bockica kept singing while calling for Bocko. BOCKICA: Where could he be? NARRATOR: She climbed onto the hat and called for him, when suddenly Bocko jumped out from underneath and knocked Bockica over. She got frightened, but when she saw it was Bocko, she was not surprised because he was always inventing new games. Soon they started wondering together what the hat could be. BOCKO: It can be a seesaw! NARRATOR: Bockica agreed with him. They climbed inside and rocked back and forth. Then they continued imagining… BOCKO: It can be a car! NARRATOR: Bocko suddenly had a brilliant idea, while Bockica did not like it because it seemed dangerous. BOCKICA: We must not drive! NARRATOR: But Bocko could not resist and started the engine. Off they went and in the blink of an eye disappeared into the forest. As they drove away, Bockica screamed. BOCKICA: Stop it! NARRATOR: At that very moment, the hunter returned for his hat. He searched for it because he was certain he had left it nearby. Worried, he sat down beside a tree to rest, but soon fell asleep. After some time, Bocko and Bockica arrived in the hat, trying unsuccessfully to stop it. Suddenly they came to a halt on top of a tall tree stump and began shouting… BOCKO AND BOCKICA: Help, help! Who will save us? NARRATOR: At that moment the hunter woke up and approached them in surprise. HUNTER: (confused) Look, my hat! What are you doing in there? BOCKICA: Save us! HUNTER: Of course I will save you, (he says while placing the hat safely on the ground, then warns them.) My little hedgehogs, your hunter Luka cares about you, but what you did was not good. Those were dangerous games. I am sure your mother and father, as well as your grandparents, do not know about this. BOCKICA: We understand, and we are sorry. It will never happen again. HUNTER: Of course I forgive you, but now please leave my hat and tell your mother and father everything you did today. BOCKO AND BOCKICA: (together) We will, thank you and goodbye. NARRATOR: They left, while hunter Luka picked up his hat, from which an unpleasant smell was coming. HUNTER: (angrily) Ah, those little hedgehogs ruined my hat! What an awful smell. Now I must go without it. NARRATOR: The hunter left carrying his hat in his hand, while Bocko and Bockica told everything to their mother, father, grandmother, and grandfather, promising that it would never happen again.
